Journey Beyond: Australia’s leading experimental tourism group

Editorial strategy, words and content production for Journey Beyond’s luxury travel lifestyle magazine

The background

Journey Beyond is Australia’s leading experimental tourism group. They’re most well known as a luxury train operator (brands include the Ghan, the Indian Pacific, the Great Southern, and the Overland) but they also operate a growing network of accommodation, tours and experiences, including Rottnest Island, Cruise Whitsundays, Sal Salis, Outback Spirit, Darwin Harbour Cruises, Horizontal Falls, Eureka 89 and Cruise Sydney.

Two issues of their lifestyle travel magazine are published each year (you can see past issues here), and 15,000 copies of each issue are distributed at Journey Beyond distribution points, which include all their luxury train experiences.

What we did

We collaborated with Adelaide design agency Frame to bring the magazine to life from go to whoa. We created editorial plans, commissioned and briefed over 20 stories, coordinated a network of a dozen freelance writers, edited and proofed over 15,000 words, coordinated a photo shoot in Sydney, and managed the editorial production.

What Journey Beyond said

“It’s been such a relief to have you managing the magazine process and the team has been very happy with the outcomes.”

– Lara Francis, former Group Manager, Public Relations and Communications
